    http://www.garmin.ie/4miler

"Are you up for the 4Miler? Don’t waste your lunch hour checking the sports results. Set the scores others want to follow with the Garmin #4miler.

This simple running challenge is a great way to get fit and inject some energy into your working week.

Just round up your colleagues; the sporty, the greedy, the sleepy and the stressed; join the Garmin Connect training community, grab your kit and get running."

Alternatively, a boards.ie group could be created?

I think it's a great idea and it's one I suggested about 18 months ago, there should be a thread somewhere. There was some interest but like alot of things it died a death.

Despite that it's essentially a UK campaign - I gave it a go, but don't understand how you go about setting up a group as you basically set up a new account and share that around...

    Anyway

Bit off-topic but I'm amazed that Garmin haven't tried to build more of a community around Garmin connect. I was on the Nike+ site for a while and they had some great community challenges there where were excellent from a motivational point of view. Got tired of having to upload my Garmin runs to Nike+ so stopped using it..

Just wondering, what's the aim, just to get people out and about ?

That its aimed at companies, to try and help them to get folks out running in thier lunch time... Work life balance and all that. Seems like a good idea...

Love the idea of a boards.ie account ... might get me off my ass and start training.

I have just started it, I got the Forerunner 110 for the marathon and love it. As a non-techi person I think it is so simple to use. Training was gettting pretty boring so love the fact the connect gives me the opportunity to compare my progress to others. I will upload my next run on the boards connect page...so let the competition commence guys!

The 4mile thing is a little restricting with a work hour between changing/showering and stuff (although considering I'm posting this at 2.15 maybe I have more time on my hands than I like to say...) but definately a good distance to hit the evening train with.

I got the Forerunner 205 I think is model no. for Marathon as well on recommendation and have to say, top quality. Can be hard training on your own so competing with previous workouts is absolute class, and have couple of other running gadgets too but much prefer this. Will knock up a couple of times here over next week and see if I can match you guys!

My body is crying out for a 4 miler but I've a small little cut on the arch of my foot which is bloody sore to even walk on, never mind a run.
