    Hi all,

I'll be giving this forum up soon and we have a new mod here as of today.

Thanks Smashy, more than glad to help out, can't believe all the free beer and money that comes with being a mod, I can't wait to find out what CMod's get, if I was a poster I'd be on my best behaviour always to get the opportunity to be a mod :)

I'll pretend I'm in work and give a bit of an introduction. GAA has always been important to me and I was brought up with it, 1 of the pictures of me is of me in a Clare knitted outfit to mark Clare's appearance in another league final (work out my age from there). 1 of the best days ever was watching the Clare footballers win the Munster Cup in '92 and see them run out in Croke Park, back then it was amazing to see Clare in Croke Park, the madness of the mid to late 90s, to the decline in the noughties to the resurgence of under-age now.

I like almost all sports, rugby would be my forth favourite sport, handball imvho is widely under promoted within GAA circles, I had the luck to be present for a number of All Ireland finals in Croke Park.

Anyway, that's enough about me, it's Friday evening, county championships are nearly coming to an end so we'll have club championship to look forward to, oh yeah not to mention the International Rules

Best of luck Clareman. Hopefully you won't have to deal with a Louth/Meath style thread where hundreds of non-GAA fans have opinions.

Congratulations Clareman. A baptism of fire thread, like one about that infamous goal, might be a good way of getting you up to speed. :) Fortunately at this time of year things tend to be quieter, and it is mostly the real GAA folk around. So unless some controversy comes from the match tomorrow night in Croke Park, you should have an easy start. You've plenty of time to get settled before the hot and heavy stuff starts. So enjoy the calm of the coming months.

Smashey, sorry to see you go. I see that the baton has gone down the west coast, bypassing Connacht. It hasn't been their year. :) Clare really pushed us Dubs in the 1992 semi-final, and we could have had a very novel Clare v Donegal football final. As that didn't happen, relations are good between Donegal and Clare people. Wishing you both well again.

Everyone knows that Clare had a perfectly good goal disallowed and the Dubs had a goal allowed when it shouldn't, really we won by 2 points, back then moral victories was about all we had, we don't even have those anymore :(

Congrats, Clareman, from another Bannerman, currently granted asylum a little further North of you. Can't see too many great days for us in Thurles in 2011 to be honest, but then back in the day, we did'nt expect anything great in 1995 either:)

Especially since we beat them last year in the qualifiers.

All the best Smashey. You and the other mods (past and present) have helped make this one of the most readable forums on Boards. Thanks for everything.

Clareman - good luck in the new role. Try not to make snap decisions, talk to people and dont always resort to the mod tools first and you will be fine.

Cheers guys, I'll try to keep any provincial bias out of discussions, that should be a lot easier here than on the rugby forum :)
