Triathlon wetsuit being used for surfing

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I wasn't sure if I should post here or in the surfing forum. I am getting into surfing at the moment and I intend to try and train for a triathlon but funds are tight and I can't justify buying two wet suits for surfing and triathlon. So does anyone know of a suit that you can use for both. The surfing forum suggests you would need a 5mm wetsuit to withstand the Irish winters. Any suggestions?

Triathlon wetsuits will rip very easily and wouldn't use for surfing.
Surfing wetsuits can't be swum in properly.

    Sorry.

Gul surfing wetsuits are grand for triathlon. theyre warm, buoyant, tight fitting, flexible in the shoulder, have knee, forearm and chest protectors and are generally good value.
chances are you'll spend more time in the water surfing than you'll spend swimming in triathlons this year so go with the surf suit.
it'll leave in more water than a tri-specific wetsuit and bunch up around your neck when swimming but its a small trade-off.
    go with the surf-suit.

Thanks for that, I think I'll just get a surfing wet suit and if needs be I'll get a triathlon specific one down the line. Thanks again.

tri wetsuit is just a little short of useless for surfing

theres no grip on the tri wetsuit at all and you'll be like a bar of soap on the board i.e you'll jump up one side of the board and slip off the other
