Anyone ever used a Private investigator for Birth Mother Search

My mother is in her 60's and for years her and my father have being trying to locate her birth mother but getting nowhere, my sister and myself have also tried but again we are just getting the same walls, so I have being thinking about a Private investigator and see if we can finish our search one way or the other, but I…

but I am worried about if it will be just a waste of time or money,

Has anyone used these agencies before ? and what was your experience?
