I've checked some threads to no avail, Will these suffice if I buy them or do I need to mount an aerial on the side of my house? I'm based in Dublin 7 with a decent view of the city.

You might try "rabbits ears", cats don't like being plugged into to TVs! :D

Anyway, signal comes from 3 Rock not city; it you can see Dublin Mountains and have a bit of height, you might get away with a decent set-top aerial, I had one working ok in Dublin 12 raised to ceiling height.

Avoid expensive ones and ones with two whips. Look at pictures here http://www.techtir.ie/saortv/saorview

You can put outdoor aerial in an attic.
