Help choosing alloy wheels.

Hi all,

Discovered yesterday I cracked an alloy. I bought the car last year & it cam fitted with 18" wheels and low profile tyres. I had planned to change them then as driving conditions on a lot of the roads - between speed ramps & potholes doesn't suit me. Anyway, I've decided to downsize to 17" & go with a higher profile tyre. Just wondering what I should/shouldn't be avoiding when purchasing these with regards to quality etc.
Any tips or websites would be much appreciated.

As for brands, the big german ones BBS, Ronal, Borbet etc are very high quality but expensive.. OZ, speedline etc also very good. compomotive od good motorsport wheels

As a rule cheap wheels = cheap build quality

Some Nice replica wheels that seem to be fairly well priced on alloy-wheels.ie. would it be advisable to steer clear of replicas & stick to branded or would the replicas be OK. Great sites BTW.

Keith in alloywheels.ie gets in good quality reps.. i got one off him before to replace a damaged wheel.. lot of guys on vagdrivers will recommend him... i think he also sells bbs wheels..
