Looking to buy a laptop

So I'm looking for a new laptop, I'll be getting it around Christmas but I need to have it picked out well in advance, heres what I need:

    Budget:
about 900 euro, 1000 at most but the lower the better obviously.

Intended use: Its needed for college, good bit of word processing but I'm doing stuff like Java and Flash in college and in the future I will be doing Photoshop, video editing, audio editing all things related. Needs to be able to handle all that and I am a heavy internet browser too. Game wise I'd like to be able to play new games at a reasonable level, nothing too spectacular. I mostly own older PC games (Band of Heroes, KOTOR) or little indie games. Playing Left 4 Dead 2 comfortably would be about as taxing as I would like. I need as much memory and RAM as I can get. I assume an i5 processor is good enough?

Mobility: I need to be able to bring it in and out of Uni somewhat comfortably. 15" to 16" screen would be perfect.

Warranty: Not too bothered by this tbh.

What Operating System do you use? Windows 7.

I saw a Packard Bell laptop in a PC World in Dublin last weekend, it basically fit my needs as far as I could tell and it was 850 I think. Can not for the life of me remember the model though.

Anyone have any suggestions? Am I looking for too much?

Oh, I'd like to avoid Toshiba too please.
