people have said the same about rodrigo and gabriela and let's also add damien dempsey to the list, some just need the spark of a live audience

I disagree about Rodrigo y Gabriela. Some of their studio stuff is quite good, in my opinion. That's not to say they're not much better live, or that Live In Japan wasn't their best album. Just that they're still pretty damn good in the studio.

dizzee rascal, seen him twice now, in marley park and at oxegen.
i'm not the biggest fan of his music at all, but i have to say i thought his live performances were very good, worth going to.

I saw Maximo Park at Benicassim and they were fantastic, was never really fussed about them before

Disco Biscuits, Phish etc. Any of the live jam bands that have only released a token album here or there.

    Audioslave for me.

Not big on their stuff on record, but they were awesome live. Great musicians, great performers and really put on a cracking show.

Also, Muse are a good bit better live than on record.

Monotonix and Man Man are the two that came to mind, particularly the former, I mean it's barely music. Live though, well I don't know if the music improves at all, but the show is terrific.

I'd put Gogol Bordello in the same boat, tbh, I couldn't give a fig about their recorded output but their live shows are a riot.

Coldplay have been excellent any time I've sene them live.

    As for their commercial output................

underworld are annoying commercially, but one listen to their live album "everything, everything" will blow your socks off.

Fun Lovin Criminals are way better live also.

    Kaiser Chiefs.

Would never listen to a record of theirs, but I've seen em twice now because they happened to be playing at festivals I've been at. Both times I found them thoroughly entertaining!
