OK so you have taken the plunge and bought online(550d I hope), but what's the protoclo when the courier delivers?
Are you allowed to check the contents before you sign, and if you discover any damage after he has left without checking before signing what is your comeback? The reason I ask is because as a craftsman I once took delivery of a very expensive repaired item that looked like it was in a carcrash after it came out of a perfect box and got quite a fright I can tell you. It was perfect when sent away but it still worked ok, but I felt lucky I had another witness when I opened the box.
BTW I would be buying new off camerabox most likely.

The delivery guy wont mind you checking the goods.
Where I work it is required that the storemen check everything before signing for the goods. Once you sign for the goods the courier companies will take the delivery as been received and in good condition, they wont accept any complaints after that. If the driver complains ask him to sign a waiver that they will accept any complaints and that will shut him up.

As far as I know the signature just confirms that you've received the package, I don't think it confirms that there was absolutely no damage. It's madness to assume that couriers sit and wait for every single delivery to open however many layers of bubble wrap and what have you. Even if you sign for it, I'm pretty sure you still have a comeback if it turns out it's been damaged in transit. Don't quote me on that though!
