I think you really need a passion for it. I studied media studies myself. Hard to get work in the area after. You have to be willing to gain experience in low paid work or even offer your services for free for awhile. Some of my fellow class mates got jobs with newspapers but free lance work. I was with a radio station for awhile but was left doing menial tasks so am not working in this area at all now. By all means if its a passion you should go for it. but dont expect to be directing films if you go down the production route. you will have to start and the bottom. and in ireland it seems you stay there. it can be a closed circle at times. alot of people dont seem to ever retire either in this profession and hog up jobs. Better off going into a course with more IT emphasis. thats my opinion anyway.
