I'm on the committee for organising the leaving cert holiday in my school and we don't want to do it through a travel agent. After a lot of arguing and voting, people have agreed on Ayia Napa because of the sun, nightlife and beaches.

Anyone with experience of the resort, advice would be much appreciated!!:D

Also I especially need help regarding how to get to Cyprus, do you have to do a stopover or are there any direct flights because at the moment I just am not able to find any direct ones :(

There's no scheduled flights from Dublin, your options are either get flight only from Sunway, Budget Travel etc or else get a connecting flight. Going with either British Airways, Easyjet or Monarch from London fly there. If it was me I would go through a travel agent as the airport is about 45 mins from Ayia Napa and if you book it all yourself you will need to sort out transport the other end.

As someone who organises rugby tours, trust me, you don't want the headache OP.

Whatever about arranging a trip for adults who can look after themselves, doing it for teenagers would be a nightmare. At least if you book a package, you'll be on a charter flight that goes direct and there'll be a coach to bring you to your accommodation. Add to that the benefit of knowing the price is fixed and everyone pays the same so you can budget for it.

If you do go down the route of booking it all yourself, booking.com have a very helpful group travel desk and will do some of the legwork for you if you tell them the dates, how many in the group and the budget per person for accommodation. You'd still have to sort the flights out yourself and to be honest, that's the tricky part.

I was in Ayia Napa a few years ago. Night life was pretty good but as far as I remember the prices were quite similar to home so it was an expensive week. Like others have mentioned it will be a tough place to organise yourself because there are no direct commercial flights and Ayia Napa is about an hours drive from Larnaca airport

There are no direct flights to Cyprus.

    Have you seen www.leavingcertholidays.com ?

At least if you go with a agent then they can take the money in installments too.

Might want to make sure with the group if its just a clubbing holiday they're after, probably better or cheaper citys for doin that eg Barcelona or Amsterdam and there's a bit more to do nearby without breakin the bank. Cyprus is beautyfull and ther people are cool tho.
