Hi I need a bit of help. I'm trying to find a decent car for myself around €1800 or less. I've been told Toyotas are brilliant. I'm just about able to drive so I think its time I get on the road in my own car. So I found a Toyota Yaris for €1800 in Dublin (I live in Galway). It sounds like amazing value (maybe tooo good to be true?). So I put the car reg onto MyWheels.ie & it all seems ok.
So what do I do next? Can I ask the guy if I can bring it to a mechanic to have it checked out? Or what? Sorry I am very new to all this so I don't know what to do to ensure I don't get landed with a banger.. I want something that will last a few years.. I obviously don;t know any mechanics personally! It has NCT until next August..

Ideally you want a mechanic you know and/ or trust to check the car over for you to see if its ok. Compare the car with other similar models on the internet and see how the prices compare.

Course you can bring a mechanic. That is very good value for a Yaris.

Don't be afraid to haggle either :)

Does anyone know a reasonably priced place that does pre-purchase inspections in Dublin ? (preferably South side)

Hey OP, bit of a nightmare coming all the way from galway to look at it if you might aswell be looking into a field. I work in South Dublin for a pretty well known breakdown company (yeah that one) So if its in my Area I don't mind spending a few minutes checking over it for you to save you coming down (I won't charge you its just you sound pretty genuine). Also I'd like to add, I call out to 6-10 cars everyday in work that are broke down and I can tell you now for a FACT, that the yaris is by far the best car on the road, never anything wrong them.
