    When to go back training?

    I'm back training after DCM,did 6 miles yesterday and 5.5 today both runs on grass.I've no ill effects from the marathon except sore shins,which i've had for the last few weeks and with shorter runs on grass and ice they should clear up fairly fast.

    My legs were still in bit yesterday, but today I'm not too bad. I'm going to go along to the club training tonight, but I'l only be doing an easy, easy session with them and see how I get on.

    Personally I wouldnt do much for 2-3 weeks after a marathon with little or no running at faster than marathon pace. I ran my A marathon 33 days ago and am only starting fast stuff nxt week. Personally I dont see any benefit in running 5-6 miles two days after a marathon. If you want your fix goes for a swim or an easy cycle. There is an arm bicycle in our gym that will get a good going over in nov,dec

    I managed about 3 miles very slowly (9min to 10min pace) this evening just to loosen the legs out. Even at a slow pace, I could still feel the tightness in muscles. Certainly I wouldn't have been able to do six miles yesterday and another five today. For me, that's too soon and just asking for injury, but obviously it depends on your level of fitness...     I'd be in agreement with VR and not do any fast stuff for a few more weeks anyway. Generally this is when my injuries are most likely to occur.

    I know i should ease up for a while,still buzzin after marathon.I intend to take it easy over the weekend.Going to get a post marathon massage on Saturday,and might hit the pool for a change.Hope to start a mid/high milage winter program in late November till March with a view to losing some weight and being in better shape for next summer abd beyond.
