Hey I'm currently studying a course in trinity but due to unforeseen circumstances I may have to drop out and start the same course again next year in cork. I'm just wondering when is the deadline date for dropping out & still being eligible for free fees? Also, I received a scholarship for doing my leaving cert through irish, have yet to actually receive the money, but I'm wondering will I still be entitled to receive this scholarship if I do drop out?

On the scholarship - you will have to contact the body giving out the scholarship and ask them the rules. If the rules are in your favour - get the confirmation in writing. Using the "I was told over the phone" reason in 10/11 months might be valid, but can easily be dismissed.

On the free fees front. There is no official date for which you can pull out and still claim all your free fees next year. Basically, if your College has finalised its student numbers and claimed free fees for the first semester, then you have lost that entitlement. If I were you I would contact Trinity asap and ask them to officially de-register you from the course and confirm to you in writing that no free fees have been claimed on your behalf from the HEA. Unofficially the deadline is generally around Oct 31st so you have a fighting chance on this.

If the College says the list has been submitted, ask them can they amend the list as it's before Oct 31st. You don't really have a leg to stand on with this arguement, but it might just work....

    Good luck
