    Hi everyone

Im having an awful time with my old employers. Took over a month to get my holiday pay and now that they have finally paid me I think its wrong. Ive been praying that Im wrong and in fact its right because I just dont feel like the hassle of going after them again!!

Im just wondering if anybody can help me sort this, I understand its 8% of my earnings for the year, is this correct? So I should be getting the amount I have earned so far this year from my payslip and getting 8% of this??

    :)

It varies- depending on how your work is organised

    see link

    tp ( over simplify) its
    four weeks per year
or one third of a week for every month worked or

    8%

Thank you so much for your reply. I understand the different ways of calculating, and Im fairly sure my employer uses the 8% one as my wages vary a lot through the year as I was just working weekends until the summer and full time in summer etc.
My main question here is am I correct in saying that I use my gross pay which is written on the bottom of my payslips and get 8% of this?

Sorry if this seems like such a straight forward question but I am trying my best to figure out where my employer got his figure which is 70 euro less than what I have worked out!

Really its 8% of actual hours worked in the holiday year, multiplied by your pay per hour.

not 8% of your pay as you may have earned time and a half for sundays or bank holidays

Thanks for that, nope I never ever received time and a half etc. as my boss never did anything by the book !

haha yeah to be honest im so glad to be rid of this place and have a new much better job, i just want to tie up loose ends with the previous employer now really to be finally rid of them!

Again, I know this sounds so simple but I really want to clarify this to make sure I am not wrong as I dont understand my payslip that much!!

on the bottom of my last payslip it says gross pay , is this the final amount that I will have earned this year?
I read somewhere that the leave year is from april every year but that some employers do it from january, im not sure which my employer does but does it really matter as long as i have a payslip that states gross pay??
