Found this guy on donedeal.ie on Saturday and just got a load delivered last night (he would of delivered them sooner but I wasnt' around) I have to say given the big pile of wood we now have out the back this was great value, I've no affiliation (as you can see for the requests section of bargain alerts)

In summary, roughly 600kg of hardwood blocks for €80, based out on the northside but delivered out to the southside for me, seems to be the best value I can find anyway!

Sounds like a great deal. What's it like as in is it dry. Maybe you could post back when you have burned some as to how you found it.

    Cheers

Just a word of warning (and nothing to do with the op), due to the downturn there are a lot of people selling logs at the moment, make sure you don't get softwoods like pine or spruce as they could leave a residue on the inside of your chimney which will lead to house fires.

Sorry, can't let you make a statement like that and frighten the sh**e out of people. The residue that softwoods can leave on your chimney will not cause your house to go on fire.

Yes, you should get your chimney cleaned every year if you use your fire a lot. Leaving your flue dirty may cause a chimney fire, not a house fire, but a dirty flue can be caused by burning anything. A chimney fire that is attended to with a few splashes of water, cleaned out, monitored and not lit for a few days will not set your house on fire.

Burn away, clean your chimney and enjoy.

Wood was a little wet from the rain last night when it arrived so that can't be helped, took the first load in this evening, burned well, no hissing, cracking, smoking or sparking, so by all accounts good gear, I'm very happy

I remember the same in fairness but I think he's just busy, especially at this time of year, he's a one man band....but he turned up on time on the day of the appointment, no messing and worked quick and left the place spotless.

I've since used Shaw Wood heat in Peamount, Newcastle. Paul there really knows his stuff and supplies seasoned wood with low moisture content which works great in my stove.
