I have not been pregnant before so excuse me if it's a silly question..:D
I am 6 weeks pregnant and wondered if it's safe to use permanent hair colours? Have looked it up on internet and some same to wait until second trimester, some not to do it at all but nearly all said it should be ok but was hoping for a definitive answer rather than SHOULD be ok!........can anyone help?

semi permanent was recommended to me instead of permanent in my last pregnancy.
    It and highlights are safe.
I asked my consultant and gp and hairdresser :)

I've heard of hairdressers refusing to dye the hair of *pregnant women, surely it should be up to the client

*Risky because just because someone looks pregnant doesn't mean that they actually are

I gave up highlights when I found out that I was pregnant with my son - then again I also avoid makeup (not that I wear much). I find that any allergies I have are worse when I am pregnant so I avoid a lot of things - probably being over cautious.

Semi-permanent colours and highlights are ok. the semis don't last as long but they are safer cos they have no ammonia. highlights done with permanent colour or bleach either on the cap or meche don't come into contact with the skin so they're safe too.
any hairdresser refusing to colour hair is really only covering themselves as the risk of sensitivity to products is much higher when you're pregnant.
    Hope it helps
