Not sure if this is retro, it's over 10 years old anyway

These were hugely popular, swept the nation. My brothers and sisters all had one.

You could get a dog and were supposed to care for it.
Only my brother ignored it and it starved to death after 3 days :(

Schools banned them as they set off alerts randomly.

    Did you have a Tamagotchi?

Pokemon's grandfather in essence. Had one but don't remeber having it for too long. Was it possibly a craze that only lasted a couple of months?

Circa 1997 I'd say.. the same time the laser pen came on the market.. I remember that as I had conflict with myself over which one to buy in Tommy's with my pocket money :D

Farmville reminds me of these. I never saw the point in them though (or farmville).

i nearly got fired from an office job years ago, spent more time looking after it than working. It came everywhere pub, shopping etc. I loved it at the time. Wouldnt have patience now for it.

I had one in secondary school in the mid nineties.. I thought it was brilliant! But I got pretty sick of it after a month or so!

Had one for a while. Just like the peel-the-stickers-off-the-rubix-cube kid, I'd reset it every now and then. Gave it to someone and don't think I ever saw it again!

    It is what it's.

I remember I was about 10 when I wanted/got one so it was about 1997 as another poster said.

They were £10 at the time, and that was expensive, I remember my aunt buying me one and told me to keep it a secret from my mum because she didn't want me having one! I loved mine but like the rest of ye I got bored of it after a while.

My niece got one a few years back for Christmas, I have to admit... I did play with it a bit!

I got one as an Xmas present in the 90s and kept it alive for about 2 weeks before I dropped the bloody thing in a cup of tea. I was devastated.
