Car losing power

    Hi,

While driving home last night my car started to lose power. The car didn't stall but accelleration was seriously below normal. Does anyone have any idea's why this might be happening? I ran out of fuel the other day and was thinking that some grit from the fuel tank may have gotten into the engine, could this be a problem?

    Thanks in advance

Could be a number of reasons for this, MAF sensor or one of a few sensors. Did any Check Engine Light happen to flash up on the dash.

I've worked on two cars in the last while where the owner allowed the car to run out of petrol.

In both cars i had to change the coils.(one only involved the changing or a single coil, €45 for the part)

Not 100% sure why but as the car runs out of fuel it put an extra strain on the system causing the coil to "jump or short out"

Visit a local mechanic, get a diagnostic check done. Hope that helps.
