What type of holiday are you planning? Is it ski? I would suggest trying the winter sports forum. There are tons of options with WWW.Directski.com, Topflight, Inghams etc.Or you can go independant fly to Munich, Menninghum, Zurich, Geneva or Milan and Train, Drive transfer to the location of your choice. Saas Fee, SwitzerlandKitzbull, AustriaChamonix France are all worth a look

In that case fly to Geneva and take the Glacial express http://ext.sbb.ch/100504/MonthlySpecials/Grisons/Glacier-Express.aspxIt traverses some some of the most special terrain in the alpsOther alternatives are to fly to Munich / Geneva and drive up through the alps.

chamonix for me is the most spectacular town in the alps, the town sits right at the end of mont blanc (which is the tallest mountain in the alps), your option there is to fly into geneva (i believe aer lingus still fly from ireland direct) and get a bus from the main bus station which takes about 90mins
