Acer 5930G - wifi button stopped working

I've got an Acer 5930G laptop, which was working fine last night.
Woke it up this morning, no wifi. Tried rebooting it, still no luck.

Pressing the wifi button on the left displays the message 'Wireless Lan Enabled/Disabled' on the screen, but the led doesn't illuminate.

Windows network diagnostics reports the wireless cpability is turned off.

Intel Pro/Set Wireless Tools was reporting that that the wireless adapter radio is on. Tried the wifi button off and on again, and it's now reporting 'Failure getting network radio status!'

Control Panel > Services is reporting WLAN Autoconfig as running.

Any suggestions of what to try next would be appreciated!

Huh, typically I've fixed it. For anyone else with the problem:

In Device Manager / Network Adapters right clicked on the Wifi adapter and Properties, under the 'Advanced' tab changed Wireless Mode from 802.11 a/b/g to 802.11 a/g

Went back to the Network and Sharing Centre > Network Connections, wifi was still showing disconnected, right clicked and Diagnose again - this time when it told me the wireless lan was turned off, it gave me an option to repair it which I'd swear wasn't there before. That did the job, and I then set the Wireless Mode back to 802.11 a/b/g

I presume some service somewhere wasn't running for some reason, and got restarted as part of the wireless mode configuration change - I probably could have changed any of thos settings and got the same result.

An hour wasted, but at least it's fixed now!
