    Hi guys,
I was wondering if anybody knows of anyone looking to take on a 1st year apprentice mechanic? I've been looking everywhere for a position but nobody seems to be on anyone at the moment. I don't particularly mind where in the country it is but I would prefer Galway as that's where I live. I know it's tough on everyone out there at the moment and I do hope that in time, we all find what we are looking for. Take care and thanks for any replies.

    Kind Regards,
    Galman.

Get your cv into every garage in the city or area you're willing to work. I know of 2 local garages (Mayo) that have taken on 3 apprentices over the last few weeks, so there are some garages looking for them at the moment. If they don't have an apprenticeship going, try getting into the valeting - at least you'll have your foot in the door.

    Good luck with the search!

I work in HR in a garage, sadly we've already recruited for this year. However I would say one of first things we always look for on a CV is a full driving licence. The other thing that gives candidates an edge is a relevant post leaving cert course. We often recruit from graduates from Colaiste Stiofain Naofa in Cork. Probably a bit far away from you but I imagine there is something similar in Galway.

    Hope this helps, good luck
