My radiators are really hard to turn off and on. The silver things at the bottom on each side of the rads are impossible. Ive tried to use a wrench too and I can't turn any of them. What can I do?

Also, some of them are hot all the way through and some are half hot, as in the top half will get got but not the bottom half.

Unless you have TRV's you should not turn off rads by those valves. It unbalances the system.

Additionally some valves only have plastic tops and when the rad is on the top thread actually goes soft and wears quickly.

I suggest you consider changing the valves and unless your plumbing confident stay away with adjusting the valves with a rench.

    Agree with Joe the Lips.

I would also add that if you try and force the stems they may snap or loosen the packing gland that will cause them to leak. So be careful.

Also if the bottom of the rad is cold and the tops are hot then you have dirt/sludge in the rads and they need to be cleaned and flushed out.
