Old and forgotten Pension tracking service?

    Hi folks...
I got talking this evening to a workmate in my current job, we knew each other from a previous job and were both eventually made redundant from that job,we got around to discussing the pension that we had in the previous job and he went on to tell me that his pension was automatically transfered to a well known company..
It was only then that I remembered I never did anything with that pension, and 'till now I'd completely forgotten about it,so I'm wondering does anybody know how do I go about tracing it? Is there a dedicated service to track down old and forgotten pensions?
Any help would be much appreciated,
    Cheers.

You should contact the Pension Board and they should be able to trace it for you. Best if you have the last known name and address of the relevant employer.

Make contact with the company that held the pension eg Irish Life, they will still have the details.

If your previous employer is still in operation, their HR department will be able to let you know who the provider is or perhaps a pensions specialist firm if a defined benfit scheme.

Generally speaking, you too will also have transfer options - the insurance company or your previous employer's HR department will be able to provde you with your options.

The value may very well be very small if you didn't work there too long or if you didn't pay very much into it.

    Hope that helps.
