Ok, your terminology is way off, DCU doesn't use a GPA system (correct me if I'm wrong but no Irish University does)
Also at University Level you don't get As Bs or whatever.

    >70% = a first or a 1.1 This is what you want
    60-70% = a two-one or a 2.1
    50 -60% = a two-two or a 2.2 or a Desmond
    40-50% = a third or a 3.1

below that and well, it a bad day for you. To calculate your overall mark for the year you have to take into account credit weightings for each module.

So it's the sum of (module grade * module weighting) divided by total credits for the year, which is 60.
(I hope I've written that right someone else can correct me, it's been a while since I had to do it)

Realistically it's more like the following.

    >= 69.5% = a first or a 1.1
    59.5-69.4% = a two-one or a 2.1
    49.5-59.4% = a two-two or a 2.2
    39.5-49.4% = a pass/third

Of course often a 69, 59, 49 or 39 will get you upgraded.

For a masters there is no 2.1 or 2.2 just second class honours which is 60% - 69.5% with first class above and pass/third below

I know that, but I think that some of my INTRA companies do, and they may use this to filter for interviews?
Or will they just take what DCU gives them in terms of my 'expected' degree grade?

Isn't your Intra on a standardised form, unless you're going outside the Intra System for a job?

Most Intra companies will look at your grade for each year. (Eg: 1.1, 2.1, 3.0 etc.)

But dont forget some of the intra companies dont really care about your grade. They will teach you everything you need to know, and they usually expect you to know nothing. So I wouldnt worry about it.

I intend to go outside the Intra system, hopefully the other companies will accept the 1.1 or 2.1 things

Where are the companies you hope to apply to based? In the UK and Ireland that's the standard they look for. If it's outside these isles, unless they're a mom and pop operation they'll understand what you're talking about.

Not quite. The following is from http://www.dcu.ie/communications/student_handbook.shtml#GRADING

    GRADING STRUCTURES - UNDERGRADUATE
First class honours (1) - 70% or above.
    Second class honours, grade 1 (2.1) - 60-69%.
    Second class honours, grade 2 (2.2) - 50-59%.
    Third class honours (3) - 40-49%.
    Fail - 39% or less

    GRADING STRUCTURES – Masters
First class honours (1) - 70% or above.
    Second class honours - 60-69%.
    Pass - 40-59%.
    Fail - 39% or less

    For the record, there's no such thing as a 1.1 or a 3.1. It's just a 1 (First) or a 3 (Third Class).

Many grades are of course upgraded.
