http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2010/10/25/true-blood-scoop-major-intel-on-season-4/
How apropos: It’s six days before Halloween, and I just so happen to have gotten the first casting intel on season 4 of True Blood. Wanna know who — and, in some cases, what — is in store? Read on!
* Marnie is a Z-list palm reader who’s painfully aware of what a joke she is — that is, until she comes to be possessed by the spirit of a real witch. Anybody else thinking said sorceress might turn out to be the Hallow character Alan Ball told me about back in August?
* Andy’s sister, Portia, is as easy on the eyes as she is sharp in the courtroom. And, since I hear possible portrayers have to be cool with nude scenes, we’re gonna get an eyeful.
* Naomi is an Asian-American cage fighter who, outside of the ring…er, cage…is hot-’n'-heavy with one of her female competitors. My hunch is that, driven away by brother Sam, Tommy starts putting up his dukes for money instead of his paws.
* Queen Mab is an elegant beauty who presides over a fantasy land that sounds a lot like the fairy domain into which Sookie (Anna Paquin) keeps being pulled. But, ethereal as her highness may be, she’s also got a temper…
* Suzanne McKittrick is a Real Housewives type who throws a hootenanny to bond with “her kind.” That “kind,” I’m thinking, being shapeshifters like buttoned-down African-American (and fellow newbie) Emory Broome.

Does that sound very complicated to anyone else? I know that one book wouldn't be enough for a full season of a tv show, but all of these new additions on top of the already established characters sounds like too much distraction.

When is Quinn going to arrive on the scene???;)

Oh God, that seems to me to be a lot of new characters and a lot of new plotlines to weave! There were a few storylines last season that almost completely passed me by, like Jason's and Lafayette's, and they haven't even resolved themselves properly yet! How they're going to juggle all these balls in the air without marginalising the existing cast/storylines is beyond me, if it's not well done, it's going to be a grinding, boring mess.

Oh, and if they don't devote due time to Hoyt and Jessica, I will hunt them down! :P

I think that in season 3, they introduced far too many new characters and stories and as a result, I felt it was very disconnected for the first few weeks. It looks like there will be be even more stories in series 4, it sounds like it is going to be very confusing. I think they aren't giving enough time to the interesting established characters that they already have (like Hoyt and Jessica).

When does Season 4 start?

Irish actress Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter’s Aunt Petunia) has joined the cast of HBO’s True Blood, Deadline reports. Shaw’s character, Marnie, has been described as an underachieving palm reader who is spiritually possessed by an actual witch. She will be a regular cast member in the show’s fourth season next year.

I concur! I think I'll wait until I've seen all the harry potters before I sit down and watch season 4 (whenever it comes out), otherwise I think it might compromise my enjoyment of the movie, just a tad!

Interesting....I could never get a mental picture of Claude in the books. From the descriptions Charlaine Harris gives the only person coming to mind was Fabio. So that was quickly put out of my mind.

Season 4's starting June 2011. Only 6 and a bit months to wait!

Very interesting Alcide photoshoot link here!

True Blood's executive producer Alan Ball has dropped some small hints about the drama's upcoming fourth season.

Speaking to the show's official blog, Ball explained that the cast and crew are hard at work on the new episodes.

He revealed that he "really loves the Eric storyline" and suggested that fans will be surprised about "what happens to Jason... throughout the whole season".

Ball also hinted that the fourth season has been influenced by some movies, saying: "We're working as fast as we can! In the meantime, I recommend watching the Swedish film Let The Right One In and the Russian films Day Watch and Night Watch."

The fourth season of True Blood will premiere on June 12 at 9pm on HBO.

• Sookie and Bill’s break-up will stick … at least for a little while. “It is hard not to think of them as soul mates when they are in real life,” said Ball. “[But Bill's] betrayal [of Sookie] is so deep that I don’t think she sees a way back from that. That’s why we need 17 seasons.” Sookie’s desire to find comfort in Alcide was mentioned as a possibility although Manganiello reminded us that his character’s ex “Debbie is still at large.”
• Eric is still very much in the running for Sookie’s affection. Meanwhile, his amnesia might give him a reason to log lots of time with the telepathic fairy under the guise of trying to piece his life and memories back together. Skarsgard said witches are to blame!
• Paquin said Sookie comes back from her finale field trip to fairyland with Claudine “different” but still unable to control her “microwave fingers. “She’s still very new at all this fairy stuff.”
• Bill is involved in a “bite-off” with Queen Sophie-Anne. Teased Moyer, “It’s not just the two of them in this fight.”
• Gary Cole (Chuck and The Good Wife) will visit Bon Temps, while Fiona Shaw (Harry Potter’s Aunt Petunia) plays Marnie. She’s a “a witch among other things,” explains Ball. Other new characters include some witches, vampires, a handful of shifters, a new werewolf, a couple of humans, a child, a gator and a rattlesnake.
• Eric’s dead maker Godrick will be back! “One of the great things about having characters who have been around for thousands of years is that you can go back and see them at different points in history,” explains Ball. “Or they can appear in people’s dreams. Vampires dream too.” A Bill/Eric flashback was also promised. In fact, both Skarsgard and Kristin Bauer rallied Ball to go back in time to see Eric and Pam of the past in a future episode.
• Sam Trammell (Sam) and Rutina Wesley (Tara) alluded to the possibility of new loves this season but fear happiness will be short-lived. Layfayette (Nelsan Ellis) and Jesus (Kevin Alijandro), along with Arlene (Carrie Preston) and Terry (Todd Lowe) and Jessica and Hoyt will remain together for the time being. “The fairy tale can’t last forever,” Woll sighed. “But maybe reality is better.”
• Despite Skarsgard’s pleas, Ball prepared viewers for the return of the king of Mississippi. “We specifically made the choice not to kill him,” the creator teased. “I don’t know when but there are definitely plans to bring him back. He is gonna be pissed.”

HBO has released a new 30-second promo for season four of True Blood.

In the fourth season of the popular supernatural television show, loosely based on a series of books by Charlaine Harris entitled The Southern Vampire Mysteries, Eric (played by Alexander Skarsgård) will lose his memory and find himself in a very vulnerable position.

The new promo features the amnesiac vampire looking for help from the telepathic waitress Sookie (Anna Paquin).

HBO has also reportedly released a synopsis for the first episode, according to TV Overmind.
It reads: "Sookie journeys away from Bon Temps; Eric and Bill try to win back the human public; Jason learns that no good deed goes unpunished; Tara finds refuge in close quarters; Sam bonds with his own; Hoyt and Jessica debate the dinner menu; Jesus urges Lafayette to join a coven; Terry tries to alleviate Arlene's fears about the baby."
True Blood will start its fourth season on June 26 at 9pm on HBO.

Sam Trammell has dropped some hints about his new love interest in the fourth season of True Blood.

Trammell explained that his character Sam will have some romantic storylines with new character Luna, played by Janina Gavankar.

"She's a shapeshifter, so I can really connect with her," Trammell told The Wrap. "And she's also very mysterious, and I think Sam is drawn to that.

"She's kind of like Sam in a lot of ways. He was and still is to a certain extent a mysterious character in town... I don't think anybody knows about him killing two people."

Trammell revealed that Sam will also become acquainted with some other characters, saying: "In addition to her I meet these other shapeshifters and there's a real community of shapeshifters. This year we explore the mythology of shapeshifting."

Trammell also admitted that he does not really worry about the nudity on True Blood but explained that the sex scenes can be a problem.

"The sex scenes are really hard and it's not really hard because you have to be naked - that's always sort of a thing," he said. "It's really about the intimacy and creating intimacy with someone you don't necessarily know all that well. That's a tricky thing to pull off... Getting that connection and also doing it in front of a bunch of people."

http://www.tvguide.com/News/True-Blood-Spoilers-1034528.aspx

True Blood has brought witches, werewolves and vampires to life over the last three seasons, but everything you think you know about the supernatural beings will be upended this season.
"Everything you thought you can count on, you can't," executive producer Alan Ball says. "Vampires are not stronger than certain humans, shapeshifters can do things other than shift and there are ghosts."
Here are 10 things we do know about what's coming up, straight from the cast of True Blood:

1. It's all about the witches: A band of witches tap into a new form of power, causing Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) to lose his memory. At the head of the coven is Marnie (Fiona Shaw), a vengeful witch coming into her powers and out for revenge. Unfortunately for Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), he will be dragged into the increasing vampire vs. witch tension. "Lafayette loves his boyfriend, [Jesus, a practicing brujo], so he's trying to deal with [magic] in stride, but it keeps sucking him in and he doesn't know what's going on," Ellis says. "He discovers who he is in the middle of all this stuff."

2. Sookie, independent woman: After discovering that Bill (Stephen Moyer) was working for Queen Sophie-Anne to gain information on her, Sookie is "learning to stand on her own," Anna Paquin says. "At the end of last season, she was at a point where she was willing to walk away from everyone and everything, particularity those troublesome boys. It's not that she doesn't want or need anyone, she just isn't dependant anymore." That's OK for Bill, though. "Bachelorhood kind of turns out all right for Bill," Moyer says. "He's decided to enjoy it while he can."

3. Vampires in trouble: Eric's unfortunate run-in with the witches will send his lieutenant, Pam (Kristin Bauer), into a downward spiral, which is bad timing in the current vampire climate. "The post-Russell Edginton world is hard for Pam," Bauer says. "It's a political environment this year, so she's supposed to be doing what the other vampires are doing — holding babies and shaking hands — but she's incapable. So we see her cause some trouble."

4. Tara returns as a new woman: After getting out of Dodge in the season finale, Tara (Rutina Wesley) will return to Bon Temps hoping to turn over a new leaf, but will immediately find herself in a mess of trouble. "She gets swept back into the world of vampires so quickly," Rutina says. "She doesn't want it, but she has no choice." Fortunately, there may be hope for her yet. "If there was to be love for Tara, I think she's ready for it because I think she's learned to love herself and has opened up in a way."

5. Shifty shapeshifters: The days of Sam (Sam Trammell) turning into a dog or bird are child's play compared to what he'll do this season. "My character explains the full-range of capabilities that shapeshifters have, and a lot of people that she's talking to at the time don't even know some of that," says Janina Gavankar, who'll be a love interest for Sam this season. "There's a really dark side to shapeshifters as well and that's something we'll explore this year. There's potential wrongdoings that can happen."

6. Jessica, domesticated? Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) and Hoyt (Jim Parrack) will make a go of living together, but a human and a vampire cohabitating isn't going to be easy. "Jessica is a vampire and I'm not quite sure that domestic life is really what she's in for or what she desires," Woll says. "She's still gotta figure that out because they moved into this very quickly." Helping her navigate this life is Pam, who acts as a "big bad" older sister, says Bauer. "Pam is a very different kind of mentor for Jess than Bill is," Woll adds. "The things you might not want to tell your dad, you may tell your cool aunt."

7. Jason's growing up: Once the older slacker brother of Sookie, Jason (Ryan Kwanten) has now stepped into a role of responsibility that will get him into even more trouble. "This is the season of the biggest growth for Jason, where the young boy turns into a man," Kwanten says. "He's forced to try and raise a tribe of people and eventually fight for his life."
8. PD's into V: The end of last season teased impending trouble for Andy (Chris Bauer) when it comes to V, otherwise known as vampire blood, an addictive drug that can ruin your life (See: Jason Stakchouse, Debbie Pelt and the rest of the werewolves from Season 3). "It's like old demons, new problems," Bauer says of Season 4 for Andy. "At first V does a lot of good. He had that cast on forever, but after a couple of drops, all of a sudden he's ready to box. He's a guy who we know has issues with substance, and he keeps saying he's done, but he's not done."

9. Arlene and Terry tackle parenthood: As if Arlene (Carrie Preston) could ever be the voice of reason, she's especially on edge this season. "I wouldn't be playing Arlene correctly if I wasn't playing her fully, fully stressed out," Preston says. "When you're talking about a child or potential child, and you're talking about it having a father that was a serial killer, in Arlene's mind, she's absolutely justified in freaking out. Luckily, Arlene has found Terry URL="http://www.tvguide.com/celebrities/todd-lowe/274644"]Todd Lowe[/URL, who will put up with all her insecurities." On a possibility related note, Preston adds, "Arlene is going to come face-to-face with something that we haven't even seen on the show yet."

10. Debbie's back, baby: Alcide's psychopathic, V-addicted ex-girlfriend, Debbie Pelt (Brit Morgan), will return this season with a new prerogative. "You're going to get to see a different side of Debbie," Morgan says, adding that Debbie will attempt to make amends with Sookie and find some normalcy. But the werewolf in her isn't gone. "You're going to get to see cool things with some of the wolves that you didn't get to see last season," she says.

http://www.tvguide.com/News/True-Blood-Spoilers-Alexander-Skarsgard-1035585.aspx

Here's what TVGuide.com learned during Friday's True Blood panel at Comic-Con:
1. Eric and Sookie. Shower. Together. Alan Ball won't say whether or not Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) will remember his current time with Sookie (Anna Paquin) — if he gets his memory back — but we sure hope he remembers their time in the shower. Oh, yes, that is coming. "There will be a moment in the show where Sookie and Eric are together in a shower," Ball says. "It may not be exactly what's in the books. It may be weirder and dirtier. Maybe."
2. When Eric bit Pam... For those wanting to see how and why Eric created his progeny, Pam (Kristen Bauer), Ball promises we'll see it in Season 5.
3. Vampires unite! With witches running rampant in Bon Temps, enemy vampires may be calling a truce for their greater good. Does this mean Eric and Bill will team up? Here's how Ball puts it: "The entire community is pretty much under siege during this season. I think the vampires will stick together to fight the common enemy."
4. Twin fairies? Eric may have vanquished the faerie godmother Claudine (Lara Pulver) a few weeks back, but that doesn't mean it's the last we've seen of Sookie's faerie family. Says Ball: "Those of you who know the books, know that faeries are born in litters — and they're identical." The question is: Who has a twin? (Book fans know!)
5. The rise of Hooligans. Asked about Hooligans, the strip club where a very special faerie works in the Sookie Stackhouse novels, Ball says the show will erect something similar. "It may not have the same name, but there will be a business venture that involves people of both sexes taking their clothes off for paying audiences," he said. "It will have a completely other twisted supernatural purpose in Season 5."
6. Vampires, werewolves, werepanthers, witches... and ghosts? It could happen! "We will see spirits without bodies. We have seen glimpses of a particular kind of brujo-based, freakish creature-slash-demon-slash-something you're going to see a lot more of this year," Ball says. Use your imagination, kids!
7. We like the Sookie Stackhouse books too, but... Future seasons will stray further and further from Harris' source material. But, Ball says, the show will always "try to remain true to the spirit of the books."

Sam (Sam Trammell) settles a score with Marcus (Dan Buran); Alcide (Joe Manganiello) confronts Debbie (Brit Morgan) about her allegiances; Andy (Chris Bauer) finds unexpected passion in the forest; Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) is consumed by the past.
