    Hi all,

I have an old-ish fujitsu siemens esprimo mobile with 1.00 gb ram, 120gb hardrive, an intel celeron processor running at 550 @ 2.00ghz with the 32 bit operating system on vista.

i was wondering would i be better off buying a powerbook g4 as i've always wanted a mac, or just upgrade the laptop and stick with it.

    any opinions guys?

PowerBook g4 is very old at this stage. It won't be be able to run the latest version of OS X, and in terms of performance and specs won't compare too favorably to what you have at the moment. If you want a second-hand Mac consider something newer, like an Intel Macbook.

You'd be mad to buy an old powerbook g4 to replace your current machine tbh! It'd be slower than what you're using. If you are going to do anything to your current machine, upgrade the RAM to 2Gb and reinstall windows on it. The RAM will speed things up, and a fresh install of windows should have it flying again. You could upgrade the hard drive if you wanted to, but unless it's constantly full, its not going to give you any performance boost.

i'm not exactly up to speed on macs but i'd have maybe 500 quid after christmas if i'm lucky, and i've seen the price of some of the macbooks

how much would it cost to upgrade the ram roughly? i could do with upgrading the hardrive, or at least get an external one, as photography and music are big hobbies of mine .

I can't and I've been looking. If you know where I can get one at that price please let me know, I'd really appreciate it.
