Is it always better to be patient?- Should I call them?

    Hi all,

I interviewed for a position that I would absolutely love to land on the 28th of last month. The interview itself went brilliantly, stayed chatting with them for about 80 mins and covered all aspects of the position and managed to use nearly all of my CV. They rang two days later to say that I had interviewed very well and that I was in the running for the position but that a senior management decision had been taken to "delay the position by a month". The lady I spoke with assured me they would be in touch in a month with news.

The month is up tomorrow and I haven't heard anything as yet. I'm finding it very hard to resist the temptation to pick up the phone and ask them for some more information. Is the best course of action to tough it out and wait to be called or take the initiative and show that I really want the position??

    Thanks for reading.

If it was me, I'd leave it about a day after the month was up and give a call - I wouldn't over think it too much though. That gives them the chance to fufil their deadline without being too egar.

However if they still haven't decided yet, you then start the new wait. I've fallen into the trap of making two calls after an interview...then had to stop before I became stalkerish! Having to make two calls to a company you went to an interview with...is never a good sign. In my opinion (and personal experience!) anyway.

    Good luck!

Same here, it's normal that you'd like to know what happens, no harm to say "yes" if you got it, or "no" if you did not. I hate being kept in limbo myself.

    Thanks for the replies.

I know that the month actually isn't up until tomorrow but it's horrible being kept in limbo like this. Will leave it alone until Friday and if I haven't heard by then I'll give them a bell.

    Cheers for the input.

it could be as simple as they may have delayed further in the meantime :(
