Hi, I dont wish to go to the expense of a full granite counter top, I was thinking of going with a laminate top like duropal etc. I was considering a pure white with a matt finish, would this be difficult to keep clean or yellow with age ? Im going with a dark kitchen, most likely walnut, so I would be going for a light color in the counter tops.

We had matt white laminate counter tops in our kitchen when we bought it from the original owners -they were difficult to keep clean alright. No matter how careful we were with tea bags, dark sauces etc the counter tops were stained so often that I had to always use cleaners with bleach to wipe them down, sometimes only bleach itself would take the stains out. They weren't exactly yellow but definitely looked a bit worn - I think all the bleach took it's toll. We replaced them with black granite and it's made a huge difference....even if every crumb or speck shows up I definitely don't use bleach anymore.
