Car Insurance Question (regarding named drivers)!

My wife has a full driving license and is currently insured with Aviva.
Anyway a friend of hers (who has their own car and a provisional license) asked if my wife would put the friends car in her name, so that my wife could then get insurance on the car (although the friend would pay for the insurance) and add the friend as an additional or named (I'm not sure what the correct term is) driver.
Basically so that the friend could get their insurance cheaper.
I really don't have that much of a clue about insurance, but surely it can't be that simple.
Besides for whether or not it's legal, surely my wife's insurance premium would increase if the friend happened to have an accident or what not.
Anyway like I said I don't really have a clue, so I'd really appreciate if somebody could please explain how this could possibly affect my wife's insurance...

If the other person is going to be the main driver of the car, not your wife, then it's illegal.

Also you can't use NCB on 2 policies at once, so your wife would have to get a new policy for the other car, starting with 0 NCB and would be a bit more expensive...

If the friend is willing to pay for your wife to get insurance on the car, why don't they just pay for insurance for themselves. It'll work out cheaper in the long run than named driver experience.

I don't think it's anything to do with insurance.
Your wife's friend has a car, but only a provisional license.
Your wife puts the friend's car in her name, and then it is insured under your wife's name with the friend as a named driver?
So, who will be the registered owner? Your wife.
Who would be responsible for insurance? Your wife.
Who will be responsible for motor tax? Your wife.
Who will be responsible for parking tickets? Your wife.
Who will be responsible for speeding tickets? Your wife.
Who will be responsible if the friend gets caught driving your wife's car unaccompanied............................?

Cheers lads. Thanks for the advice.
It's not gonna be happening now. Definitely sounds way too dodgy and not worth the hassle and risk.
Like I already said I really don't have much of a clue about insurance and what not, but even I knew it wasn't as simple and straightforward as they thought it would be.
    Anyway thanks again.
    Much appreciated.
