    Hey guys,

With big changes around here recently, it would be a shame to lose some of the banter and sense of community in the PS forum. So perhaps a general discussion thread for general chatting about all things Playstation would be a welcome addition to the forum? A place to talk about what you're playing, what trophies you're desperately trying to get, and what's currently driving you to hurl your Dualshock through the window.

    What say ye, play(station)ers?

Hey this is a pretty nice idea. I like the thread title too. :)

At the moment I'm aiming to 100% Katamari Forever, which is much harder than you would think.

Apart from that I'm playing some Killzone 3 Beta, which it quite simply face meltingly amazing!

I'm making my way through Medal of Honor which I won here on Boards, I'm finding it to be a very enjoyable game and the little bit of multiplayer I played was quite good.

One of these days I'll finish Yakuza 2 and get back to playing Yakuza 3. Then it will be time for us, johnny, to talk all things Kazuma Kiryu. :pac:

    +1

I'm one co-op playthrough of Dead Rising 2 away from plat, but will be a while before I get to it.

New Vegas has taken a big chunk of my time up already - first time in years where I stayed up til 5am playing a game. Absolutely awesome game and I've barely touched the plot - only at Primm plot wise. Side quests and exploration is brilliant.

Good idea, got my Killzone Beta code today found it difficult to get into a game but when i did it was class. Forgot i needed to change the buttons but once i did that i was ok. But Vegas is talking over everything.

Played Dead Nation its awesome !!

Having gotten the Move recently, I'm currently making my way through both Sports Champions and Tumble.

Loving Tumble especially. For those not in the know, it is sort of like reverse Jenga mixed with 'Boom Blox' on the Wii.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,761 ✭✭✭GothPunk

Yeah Tumble is great. It's my favourite Move game so far. The last few puzzles are pretty tough too which is always a plus when it comes to a game like this. Have you had a chance to try multiplayer yet? The OH and I gave it a shot the other day, it's a great laugh. Particularly when you're building a tower where half of the blocks are sticky blocks, it makes for some interesting compositions. :pac:

Not yet, but hopefully my housemates might give it a bash with me this weekend.

Tumble was good but RUSE is so good with the Move, the amount of RTS games that could now be playable on console. Its dare i say it better than a mouse.

I'm waiting on the MAG support for Move to come out. Hopefully it will be out before Black Ops hits the shelves (which I'll be getting for the pc :o)

I feel like i'm at home again :D

    Playing New Vegas atm...

Been letting Demon's Souls fall by the wayside recently... Must get back to it!

    Umm, it's out already! :D

They released the MAG 2.0 patch there a couple of weeks ago. You're about 600MB away from playing MAG with the Move.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,085 ✭✭✭Grumpypants

I didn't like the Move with MAG i think for 3rd person shooters it works really well but not for FPS. As you control the cursor on screen by moving rather than aiming. Unless they changed it during the Beta. I tried it got no where, it was too sensitive when aiming at distance.

Got my Logitech wireless wheel today for F1, and started shaving about 5 seconds off my lap times straight away. Also got Smackdown v Raw 09 (It was only €3 from gamestop) and gave that a blast. Also ploughing through ACII.
Good to hear the positives about KIllzone 3 - can't wait.

Got Costume Quest, its an amazing and fun game.
Well recommended for people looking for a quick, fun and easy game.

Yeah, it's great alright, although I am a whore for Double Fine productions! But like most things, I'm playing on Xbox at the moment. Don't know why I've picked up so many on 360 recently, and RB3 isn't going to reverse the trend on Friday (my RB kit is all for 360)!

Played through Enslaved last week though - glad I rented it, is actually a really interesting game. The individual elements aren't always the most impressive, but some of the set pieces are fantastic. The bits that have you platforming while dodging enemy turrets are great, a fine combination of gameplay elements. Story goes a bit **** at the end though, and the cloud chase sequences were pretty poor, but the animation / settings / platforming / combat were good fun, and it's good to have interesting main characters for a change.

@GothPunk: frickin' Yakuza games take an age to complete :pac: I'd have finished Yakuza 3 by now if I wasn't so easily distracted by shiny new things!

Speaking of shiny new things, everyone needs to play Vanquish in the haste! If it wasn't for Bayonetta, it would be my game of the year!

Can I just say I hate yous all that got the Killzone beta :D . I'm hoping they give out some more keys for us Plus members that have crap memories.

I'm currently playing FIFA 11 and Fallout: New Vegas. I still have to complete Demons Souls and ModNation Racers. I'm also going for platinum on Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. Looking to get Enslaved, Vanquish, MoH and Black Ops when I'm done with the rest. Wish I had more time to play.

Edit: I forgot I still have to start DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue. Right, I'm getting stuck into these over the weekend :D

It seems like Tumble would be the perfect Move game to have an online multiplayer mode of some sort, as it's evenly paced and each player has to wait their turn, so it's not like lag would really come into the equation. It's a pity that there are very few online Move games at the moment.
I didn't like the Move with MAG i think for 3rd person shooters it works really well but not for FPS. As you control the cursor on screen by moving rather than aiming. Unless they changed it during the Beta. I tried it got no where, it was too sensitive when aiming at distance.
If you want I could post the settings that I found on NeoGAF? When you get the settings right I think it works quite well, although it would take quite a while to get used to!

Edit: Here are the settings, I figure you or heebusjeebus might like to try this set up:
    Player rotation - 70
    Player pitch - 30
Gesture sensitivity - 100 (you need to thrust the Move forward to perform knife attack - don't worry this wont cause unintentional knifing)
    Scope sensitivity - 100
    Normal play - 60 / 40 / 80
Fixed iron sights - OFF (If you have this to On you are doing it wrong)
    Iron sights - 0 / 10 / 40

Credit goes to TTP from NeoGAF who runs the site iWaggle3D.
@GothPunk: frickin' Yakuza games take an age to complete :pac: I'd have finished Yakuza 3 by now if I wasn't so easily distracted by shiny new things!
Tell me about it, the OH just bought me Nier and Resonance of Fate for our anniversary, and yet she complains that I should play through all my old games before buying new ones. :pac: I hope I'll manage to complete Yakuza 2 and 3 before Yakuza 4 comes out in Spring. After that it'll be time to hope they bring Yakuza: Mecha Gun Arm Zombie Invasion out in English.
Speaking of shiny new things, everyone needs to play Vanquish in the haste! If it wasn't for Bayonetta, it would be my game of the year!
Sorry to say it, but I'm waiting for the price bomba on this. As much as I want it I can't justify paying full price when in about 2 weeks it'll be about half price online.

    .

Nice one ill give the settings a bash once ive cleared some of the back log. Have Fallout NV, F1, WWE smack down v raw 2011, Fable 3,Singstar, guitar hero, RUSE, all still on the go !!!!

Ill never understand why some of those games arent moved into the summer market.

But ive been glued to the PSP and God of War ghost of sparta its brilliant my favourite GOW game out of them all so far. 9 1/2 hours into it and still not finished. I usually only play the PSP on the move or in short bursts so nearly 10 hours in 2 days is good going.

Anyone tried the Demo of time crisis ? have it down loaded but didnt try it yet.

Played time crisis last night at the Hub, i thought it was quite good even though my move controller was borked.

Nice one GothPunk. Will take a look at that tonight.
I know something similar is required for any Wii FPS's.

Just finished Ghost of Sparta, Awesome best one yet.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Playing a good bit of Tumble. I had actually forgotten that I had purchased it. Finished Medal Of Honour. It's good but didn't necessarily wow me.

Chalked it up as "just another war FPS", so I was surprised to find that I had purchased Tumble. Anyone getting the Move should definitely purchase this from the PS Store. Costs a tenner but is well worth it. Great little game. Can't recommend it enough.

Also playing Flight Control HD. Great Move game but can also be played with a controller. Costs about a fiver from the PS Store but it's damn addictive.

As for trophies.... Well, I'm not really a trophy whore as such but I reckon Heavy Rain could be a relatively easy game to collect all trophies in. Having said that, knowing what happens when you play the seoncd time around is a wee bit boring to play but I'm looking forward to seeing the four endings. I've seen two so far.

Right now I'm tipping along with the Prince of Persia games. I'm looking for a new job and my reward when I get one will be Fallout: Vegas!

Bugs aside I loved Fallout 3. And even if Vegas is just like a massive DLC I don't see how that's going to be a bad thing! :D

    Bumpity bump!

So what are people currently playing or planning to play over Annual Gift Day?

Alas, I am AFPS3 (away from PS3) so my PSP has been my best friend for a while. Ys Seven is dah bomb, and I enjoyed God of War GoS more than I did GoWIII, even if it's still a pretty overrated franchise. Also still getting the odd session of Disgaea - 30 hours in a year later!

LBP2 remains the shining light on the horizon for me, and the promise of Uncharted 3. Roll on 2011!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,532 ✭✭✭WolfForager

Looking to get AC Brotherhood, really psyched to play it and it'll feel so good after 3 weeks of cramming :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,283 ✭✭✭Glico Man

Got Rock Band 3 delivered today so I'll be playing that until the guitar is pried from my cold dead hands :p

Hoping I'm on the 'nice' list so I can get AC Brotherhood for xmas. Also got a replacement copy of BC2 due to disc warp from overplaying:o(thats a lie), it was unfortunately left in the sun for a day

Cannae wait for next year when I shall have to sell an organ or two to play what is a great list of games like ME2, LBP2, Dead Space 2, new Uncharted, LA Noire, KZ3 etc

But due to exams, all game time will have to be put on hold until the end of January :(

it's not bad, it's definitely not even in the top 5 of FF games but considering i platinumed it and definitely got my money's worth from it

Dead Space 2 and Mass Effect 2 demos up on the US Store, maybe we might get them after the update later?

Played ME2 for a few minutes there. On my to buy list

Ive just finished ACBrotherhood great game but im getting more and more fed up with games showing 61% complete then you end up finishing the bloody thing 5 mins later. I was doing all the side quests and opening the shops had tons done and wanted to finish it all out then bam game over !!! I can go around and get the rest after the credits but its not the same.

Back to RUSE bloody frustratingly brilliant game.

Now ive time to play ive no new games to play !!!

Mega Bump here :D. Thought I would just bump this instead of creating a new thread (Some of us do use the search function mods :P)

Anyway what are you all playing then? Looking forward to anything. Just general stuff that dosn't really belong in one thread or another.

Personally I just purchased MGS 1 and FF 7 from the PS Store. I have only used my Playstation online 3 times or so, but with the free games I thought nows the time and ended up getting woo'd by the PS1 games :( all I need was €1.00 for Cool Borders 2 as well :(.

But MGS 1 is some game, playing it now and while clunky and not amazing graphically considering it is over 10 years old it looks great. Still plays like a dream as well, glad I purchased it :D.

    So your go :P

Only really playing the freebies on PS3 at the moment (Wipeout HD is so much fun), although just finished LA Noire last week - now finding it hard to tear myself away from score attack mode in Espgaluda II on Xbox to devote the time to the freebies I should! Also trying to figure out if Child of Eden will be better on PS3 or 360.

Engrossed in Persona remake on PSP at the moment.

Been making my way through Dead Nation since I downloaded it. It's good, but I can only play a level or two at a time before it gets a bit repetitive.

I was playing co op with Phoenix Knight last night. We had a crappy connection so only got a couple of games in.
It's fairly enjoyable and am looking forward to another session.

Haven't had a look at a infamous yet so might fire that up for a while tonight.

Find it difficult to settle into a single player game since i discovered BFBC2 about 5 months ago.

Yeah I lost interest for a bit but it just comes back. LA Noire brought it back, and I have hardly played that :D.

Now though I am looking forward to getting home from work to have a go on the game. Something to slightly look forward to. Also finally hooked up the internet to the Playstation so might start trying games online now.

Tried going back to Burnout Paradise and found it all a bit old hat, oddly enough.
Not sure why, maybe Need For Speed:HP and Split Second have spoiled me for arcade thrills, been a long time since the last Burnout game too, wonder when we might see the next one, or are Criterion too wrapped up in NFS now..

I'm probably going the other way at the moment and am using my PS3 on a daily basis from as soon as I get in from work practically. Blitzed through Arkham Asylum last weekend and am going to do the same with another game I've been putting off for a while.... possibly one of Uncharted, Infamous, LBP or Lost & the Damned.
