...How come you're supposed to leave the oven door ajar when using the grill?

What will the result be if you don't?

    Thanks in advance!;)

My oven doesn't actually work on grill if the door is completely shut :pac:

depends on the oven or the grill facility if it has a fan attached you could leave the door closed otherwise you must leave the door open or your oven/grill will fill with smoke

New EU law, all grills from now on will only work with the door shut. Health and safety !!!

The EU law is here so you can close the door open, but the reason isn't the EU law.

Grilling with the door closed can fill cause the grill to fill with smoke.
Some people don't know this, or are two thick to remember.
So the EU forced manufcturers to fix this, fan now means door can close
    simples

I was at KAL recently (Neff cookery demonstration) they said that on all new models you will only be able to grill with the door closed. They said it was a new EU law, to stop a grill fire taking over the whole kitchen.

If you close the grill, you're doing two things - cooking it as if it was like an oven, and grilling it. So maybe good for certain types of meat that you have to cook through (chicken etc) but prob not so good if you were grilling lamb, beef etc.

Yeah, but they are likely fan assisted to prevent a fire in the first place, this also removes the need to keep the door open slightly.
