UPC Remote Control

Hi All, I'm not sure if this has been covered before but does anybody know how to set the UPC remote to control the TV volume( not through the cable box) When i use the UPC remote on the TV it works fine in every way except volume control , it will only control volume when watching through the UPC box Thanks. :confused:
