    Greetings Earthlings,

recently i visited friends who live in rural co cork. they have broadband through a satellite system. but they would like to have wifi throughout the house.

is there a particular type of router they would need for this type of BB?

the area they live in is brutal for mobile phone signal and there's no chance of getting eircom or fixed line services in anytime soon.

    any suggestions?

Any ethernet WAN Router. linksys, Dlink. ZyXel, Netgear, Asus. Often called Cable Routers by shops such as Dabs/Argos etc.

Has 5th "wan" ethernet port for the modem cable, and NO built-in DSL modem. Most have WiFi also. 802.11g or 802.11a/b/g are fine for WiFi, the 802.11n isn't usually worth the premium.

Power off, then on the satellite Modem to get it to give a connection to the Router instead of existing PC/Laptop, with Router connected and its WAN port set to "DHCP", not pppoe or Static.
