Is there a high risk that I got my gf pregnant?

Hey,

Couple of days ago I masturbated. I wiped myself clean after I finished, then about 3 hours later I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend. After about 15 minutes I did put on a condom though. Now im really panicking because im afraid i might've got her pregnant, but what are the chances of it? I mean ive looked at some info that sperm dies after about an hour after ejaculation and once it dries up its dead, but Im still feeling a little frightened that somehow some sperm was still left after i cleaned myself and it somehow got in during sex.

Such a stupid mistake i know and i learned my lesson. I feel like an idiot writing this but I just wanted to know what do you think are the chances?

Im 19 in college and broke as a joke so I can't even wrap my head around about the thought of having a child.

OP, it doesn't matter if you masturbated before you had sex with your gf expecially 3 hours before, if you ejaculated in your gf, there is always the chance of pregnancy and putting on a condom 15 minutes into sex is not going to eliminate all risks either.

I dont want to sound patronising, but if you dont want to have a child, use protection especially if you have readily there. To be honest the chances are 50/50 in my opinion. You need to advise your gf to take the MP if she hasnt already. Best of luck

Any penetration without a condom is enough to get a girl pregnant.

Alot of people like to think that if they have sex for 2 mins without a condom you are less likely to get pregnant than having sex completely unprotected for a longer period of time (then ejaculating outside) - yes that makes sense, the more you would penetrate the more pre-cum you would be entering into the womens body but that still doesnt rule out the ential pre-cum from those two mins which is more than enough to impregnant :cool:

Yes it is a possiblity and yes she will need to see a dr to see about getting the morning after pill, some women can't be prescribed it but it has to be taken with in 72 hours of the unprotected intercourse happening.

Pre-cum can contain sperm. Get your girlfriend to go to the doctor and don't be so silly ever again.

Come on! They chances of getting a girl pregnant after unprotected sex are NOT 50/50. If they were, there would be a hell of a lot more babies around. A couple of my mates would have a few carloads anyway, that's for sure.

Loads of normally fertile couples try for months before conceiving, and there are loads of factors at play.

Well whaddya know. i just googled it and if you have regular unprotected sex with a healthy female of young age at a random day in her cycle, the statistical probability of knocking her up is roughly 20% or (1/5 if you like your probabilities expressed as a fraction, as many people do, including myself).

Learn something new every day, I would have thought it was a lot lower. Of course this is assuming you're both fertile and you didn't 'pull out' or slap on a condom half way through or whatever. You would probably have to factor that into the calculations.

15% of pregnancies miscarry though so there's a 0.2 x 0.85 = 17% chance that she'll get pregnant AND have the baby. About 1/6.

Give your condom trick 50/50 chance of working as per Irisheyes and you're into 1/12 territory, (under 10%). I like those odds.

Id say the chances are lower than that though when you think about it. I wiped myself after i masturbated so there was a fraction of sperm left on my penis, of that fraction most of the sperm, if not all, died during the 3 hour period.

Still though i have that ''what if'' feeling in my gut and I pray to god that she isn't pregnant. I cant even take care of myself, nevermind another human being. Feeling very stressed at the moment and my head is just all over the shop.

Fabbydabby, I'm taking it that you're a bloke and have never had a pregnancy scare in your life.... because there's no way a woman would be so blase about percentages and facts of being pregnant. Let me tell you OP, it is NOT fun going through 3 or 4 weeks of waiting around to get your period (tests aren't always reliable in the first few weeks). The paranoia and panic TAKES OVER your life, it's a horrible, horrible feeling even thinking about the possibility of being pregnant when you don't want to be.

No matter how small the percentage, I would advise your gf to get the morning after pill. It's much cheaper than a) having a baby and b) having an abortion, if that's what she/you wanted to do.

you say you wiped yourself down. But did you squeeze out the remains from the 'pipe' so to speak.
Semen is thick and there's often some left inside and then when you had sex later on you would have squeezed that remains into her during sex. Now this is all speculation maybe you did squeeze it all out. Just be more careful in the future.

And what does your girlfriend think the "chances are"? Whatever about you discussing the risks and statistics here with us, what is SHE doing about it?

If there was even a 0.0001% chance of pregnancy, I'd be straight off to the doctor.

Look, the odds here are slim. Outside of the body, sperm doesn't live very long, a few hours at best. So the majority of excess sperm was dead before you had sex with your girlfriend. In addition, masturbation only produces about 50% of the volume of sperm as intercourse.

So there was likely some sperm still present, but so little that it would make any difference - especially if you had a pee between masturbation and sex. The odds of her being pregnant are no higher (or negligibly so) than any other time.

So stop panicking about that. But you did have unprotected sex with your girlfriend, which has its risk. She knows this, you know this, so if you're that worried ask her to see a doctor to asses her options.

After 15 minutes I would imagine that there would be at least some pre-cum (this contains sperm and so CAN impregnate your gf) so I would say ask her to take the MAP if it isn't too late.

In future always use protection unless you are ready for the responsibility of a child.

Have to agree, have you discussed this with your girlfriend?? Because if my boyfriend did this and didnt mention it to me....and also discussed it on the internet without telling me in be in some right fooking trouble!!! :mad:
What if she is pregnant and you've been on her blabbing when she coulda been down the doctors getting the morning after pill!! :rolleyes:

i wouldn't be too worried about the cum that was outside your penis....as in the residue on the external part of it. i'd be more worried that there was sperm still in the tube that travels from your testes to your penis. this tube can still contain sperm after you ejaculate and then if you go on to have sex again later the sperm can be in your pre-cum which is tranferred into the vagina. this sperm in the tube would have been removed if you had urinated after ejaculating the first time. not sure if you can remember if you pissed or not after.

all in all, i'd say the chances are very remote she got pregnant either way. best see it as a lesson learned.

in future, wear a condom before inserting penis inside vagina and more importantly, should something similar happen discuss with the girl to take morning after pill! Praying is not going to get you very far. I dont see why its such a big deal to take the precaution to take the morning after pill....its far better then wishing the problem away and puts you at mind that there wont be a baby and the girl also.

Umm somebody has to be the one in 12 person and it's not going to be you - if it's anyone it'll be her. Advising her to get the morning after pill is the best you can do, after all, she had the unprotected sex with you too!

If she doesn't get the MAP and she ends up being the 1 in 12 to have a full pregnancy or one of the 2 in 12 to be unlucky enough to suffer a miscarriage, you're just going to have to deal with it. Poorer people than students have managed to raise children.

I hope you guys won't have to deal with this but don't assume that just because the chances are low it won't happen. People win the lottery most weeks and the chances of that are waaay lower!!!!

Its too late for the pill on this occassion...as its only effective up to 72 hours...and no doubt its been longer since then. Lesson to learn for next time.
