im looking to install a Free to Air sat dish but i have a sky already. will the free to air box work with the spare port on the LMB. so is the frequeccy for free to air the same as sky?

Yes. Try and get a product that is Freesat branded. It will save you tuning channels and gives a 7 day guide.
