    Sounds like a DNS issue, can you access the same site on the same machine from Internet Explorer?

    many times, as in all the time? randomly? Do any pages fail to load in Firefox or IE? Opera?

    does sound like dns problems..

    you can flush the dns cache for the whole pc by;
    start > run
    type CMD > OK
    in the command prompt, type; ipconfig /flushdns

    then it starts to happen again on both chrome,ie etc
    making it browser independent, therefore likely a system or 3rd party software issue, so Windows itself (proxy, DNS, firewall), antivirus, firewalls.. all that.

    It happens quite alot yes and its also random times,it can work no problems then it starts to happen again on both chrome,ie etc

    Its not a problem with Chrome if its happening in IE also.

    Sounds like its a problem with your LAN settings / internet connection / DNS / router config or ISP

    Has anything changed since it last worked ok?

    you could try a different DNS server for a while
    www.opendns.org

    or use nslookup at the command line (some entries may already be cached by windows)
    nslookup www.google.ie

    as an aside firefox uses it's own DNS cache

    UPC may have been having DNS problems recently and Eircom too in the past
