Education/career problem - previous results holding me back

    Hi guys,

I'm going unregd for this. I am hoping to go back to college next year as I have finally, after a long period of time being confused and in the dark about what i wanted to do, figured out what I want to do with my life and career.

I have identified some courses that I can do, and I am prepared to make many sacrifces in order to do them and to succeed in them.

My problem is that I have a degree in a subject that I had little to no interest in. HoweverI only managed a 3rd class honour in this (the subject was very maths based which is not my strong point at all, as I learned, and as such I struggled) and this is going to be very restrictive for me going forward, in terms of what courses I can get into.

Despite the fact that course applications are not for another few months, I am crippled with doubt, anxiety and frustration about this and I do not know what I can do to get myself around this. I 100% believe that I will be a high achiever in this field as I have done a certificate in it which I scored very well in. It was also the first time that I was genuinely interested in the subjects I was studying and was surprised myself in how dedicated I was to it. Obviously I am also more mature now and would approach everything better.

Has anybody been in this situation before, or does anybody have any advice on this? I feel very lost.

    Thanks.

It completely depends on what you want to do. If it's medicine you'll need more than to be sure you'll succeed at it. You need to show the course provider that you have a serious committment. Volunteering in the area for example.

Experience can count when applying for courses. But a lot depends on how in demand that course is.
