I can get the tv below for 700, thoughts.

Its mainly just to get value from sky hd as the tv we have is 4 yrs old and i don't feel we are getting the best pic we can. Its in the living room and will be used every day for normal use from the soaps to the late late and everything in between.

Also stream video through PS3 and might watch some sport ( but i normally use the AV room for that.

Best tv you can get unless you make the jump to that V series or whatever. If its an everyday thing though you might want to factor in the sunlight problem.

no need to worry, the g20 is better

No difference really. I think the G20 has a VGA and a couple USB ports as well as freesat.

They both have the same panel, a G13 I believe. Its just a marketing thing that they don't show you this in the specs.

The only difference is that the G20 has a certified THX mode. However, the S20 has something called 'True Cinema' which may as well be called THX lite. It does just as good a job.

Thats a decent price for an excellent set, where did you get it for that if you dont mind telling us?

Its certainly worth 85€ for the integrated freesat element IMO

the g20 has a NeoPDP while the S20 only has a regular panel. the G20 also has Infinite Black technology which gives it far greater blacks and a much higher contrast ratio. the g2o also has usb sockets.

anyway, what the person asked was the g20 worth the 785 rather than 700 for the s20 - absolutely yes

Its worth the extra 85 alright. A nice find.

Also the S20's is a NeoPDP panel too. And heres a nice picture of the filters for those who might be interested.

Quick query that is related to this family of Panasonic Plasma's.

Why is it when you go in to a store to look at an X20, an S20 or a GT20 (Harvey Norman have a GT20 so figure it's the same as G20 but with 3D), they all look so dull. Next to a Samsung LED, these tv's look shockingly bad, yet the likes of the G20 are so highly rated.

What gives? The lure of the lovely colours on the LED's is getting to me!

in a bright shop TVs need to very high contrast and very vivid colours. in home use, these settings would cut the eyes outta ya. plasma dont have pop that LED or LCD would have but it a far more natural looking picture. i have a panasonic v20 and in Dynamic mode (very vivid colours) its far too much at home and is uncomfortable to watch, whereas normal or thx mode is a lot more subdued but far more natural and pleasing to the eyes!

    Nice one, thanks for that!

I'm shopping around for a new TV and I have to agree with Big Moe, in the shops which have the TVs in dim lighting a lot of the LCDs and LEDs are way too bright, and plasmas look better. Do the LEDs have a setting that makes them more watchable at home?

Will the Panasonic TX-P42S20L work with Saorview HD? The spec. says -

    "DVB-T Digital terrestrial services (MPEG2 and MPEG4-AVC(H.264))"

    Yes!

You might not get the teletext/guide services though that rely on another technology (MHEG5)
