I have a mac mini and iphone at the moment, but plan on adding a 13" mbp or mba to that within the next 3 months, is a mobileme subscription worth the money?

    I would personally say no,
There's plenty of e-mail providers such as gmail that provide you with loads of e-mail storage, there's backup solutions like mozy.com which cost 3e a month for unlimited storage and theres sync apps like Foxfox Sync which will sync all your stuff to your PC, Mac and Iphone.

Depends on what you are going to judge it on. For what it provides (email, storage, etc.), probably not. But for the ease of use, yes I think it is worth it. I use it and have my iMac in work, my home MacBook Pro and my iPhone all set up to it for syncing email accounts (both me.com and my work one which MobileMe sorts for me too even though it's not a me.com address), calendars, internet bookmarks etc. Plus the find/wipe my iPhone facility is nice to have, just in case...

I wouldn't totally dismiss it. The lack of ads is nice, as is the Find My Phone feature. Also, many people trust Apple more with their private details than Google. However, I still agree that's it not really worth it at the moment, but that should change soon.

If you have a lot of iDevices, and value your time and ease-of-use, I think it's worth it - particularly if you get a discount when buying with a Mac, or buy in a family pack.

Me and my girlfriend between us have an iMac, MBP, MB, Mac Mini, 2 x iPad and an iPhone, and it's a great way to keep emails, contacts, calendars, bookmarks and files synchronises over all devices. BackToMyMac is quite neat as well. I realise my situation probably isn't typical, though. :)

    This

Don't use the email but dead handy having all contacts, calendars and bookmarks syncing seamlessly. There are free alternatives but none that work as well IMHO

well when it comes to the macbook(undecided what model) the mini which gets heavy use, and the iphone which is used alot and syncs pretty much everyhthing with the mini it would make it easier to keep the macbook in sync with the other 2. theres always the find my iphone too, it would be worth it for that alone in the case i ever lose the phone I guess!

I have an iMac MBP, G4 tower, iPad and iPhone and MobileMe is unbelievably handy. It keeps everything in sync at the touch of a button and I can pick up any machine and have everything at my finger tips. I've ignore idisk for the past few years but I think I'm going to start using it as the idea of it is incredibly handy.

It can be found cheap enough online, most ebay and pretty much all amazon sellers are perfect. There have been minor reports of codes not working but they are resolved for the most part. The reason they can be so cheap is generally people get a stock of them in the states and sell it of at a profit hear or from the UK, while still being cheaper than store.apple.ie

Yup as others have said great for syncing devices. My Gallery thing works nice as well. But don't use the finder to access your iDisk, use Transmit or Cyberduck - much faster.

Really isn't worth €79 tho.... better when you can get it for this price

    attachment.php?attachmentid=132686&stc=1&d=1288215144

Worked out at a nice €29.74 and code was emailed to me.

D'oh. Just paid $60 for it because I searched for "MobileMe" rather than "Mobile Me". Still saved myself money but paid an extra €15 over prices quoted above.

I bought it to keep my Mac Mini, MBP and iPhone 4 in line for my business. Works like a charm 99% of the time. A lot less hassle for me than getting 4-5 apps to do the same thing.

Do you have to buy a new code each year or do they just re-charge your cc?

Recharge your CC, so I think I'll have to cancel mine before that......;)

You can try it out for 60 days and just cancel if you don't like it. I tried it out this way because I wanted to have push email to my iphone. I didn't benefit from it as much as I thought I would so cancelled it. The sync between devices is cool though.

I am a big fan of Apple products but MobileMe is no good. But, as pointed out - you can have a trial.

I'd definitely say no, it's not worth the money.

It simply does not work for me on my PC gear. It is slow and crashes a lot. It won't update in many cases and causes duplicates of some appointments whilst others disappear.

Apple should pay me to use it. I have paid for a year, no more, when I was relying on it, it broke, not business ready for me on PCs.

I had it for a year and it isn't worth it.

There are already free website providers out there and Dropbox and others give you free diskspace.

The only feature that was any use to me was "Find my iPhone" but not worth the price for just that.

If you do plan to use, if you don't pay to renew they will delete everything and offer no restore service.

check out your local pc worlds. I bought a bunch of .mac subscriptions on clearance for a fiver there last year and each one could be redeemed for 1 years mobileme, so for a fiver it was definitely worth it.
