Online Vs FM...

Just wondering how many listen to FM any more? Finding myself listening more and more to 6music, LastFM, GS, etc. and some of the channels on Nokia's Internet Radio app. Except for the new evening slots of Fanning, Huston and Hegarty on 2FM there's nothing really any good and Phantom is way too commercial and sheepish (in Galway btw). Apart from the music, another bonus is when listening online there's no ads so when I go back to FM the ads crack me up... so invariably I'll go back online :D

In work I generally listen to stuff online but when I'm in the car or commuting, it FM all the way (or cd / MP3 player)

there's a thing, are internet car radios available? all they'd need would be a 3G modem built in, although FM isn't that bad yet to warrant it I suppose! then again, with some people spending 2-3 hours a day in their motors....

I'm really into podcasts at the moment.

    Some of my favourites are....

Needle Drop - really good, wide-rang of genres, although leaning mostly towards indie stuff.
I've this lad to thank for finding out about lots of stuff, recently "Public Strain" by Women. He seems to be focusing on his Youtube channel at the expense of the podcast, the archived shows are still worth checking out.

I love Stones Throw Record's Podcast too, ST artists playing mixes, mostly old Funk/Soul stuff.

KEXP - Loads of great Podcasts on this American station.

    and

Marvin Suicide - everything he plays in freely available online (the legal kind of free).

I copy them on too my phone and listen on the go, they've replaced FM for me.

Very much depends on what you're after.

I usually only tune into FM or AM for talk radio at the moment.

If your musical tastes are in any way specialised then you have to go online. It's not as if 98fm is going to cater for your musical needs.

The tried and trusted XFM (Dublin) is as good a place as any to start.
There are some super stations on the net KCRW (L.A) Just one off the top of the head.
