Replacement battery voltage?

Hi, the battery on my Dell laptop is shot and I am looking at replacements. The Dell genuine are very expensive. My (dud) battery is marked as having 14.8V voltage but all of the (non-dell) replacements online are 11.10V. Can anyone tell me if that makes a difference or could blow my laptop. The laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1501.
    Thanks in anticipation.

One for Laptops methinks. Moved :)

And if your battery is 14.8V you'll need a 14.8V replacement with the same shape and connector! Also, cheap replacement batteries often have much lower capacity than the original pack (= reduced run time and battery life) :o

cheap duds are a waste.. mine lasted a few months for an old m1710 xps machine.
