Anybody else having problems with iLife 11? My install went fine but iPhoto, iMovie and iTunes now hang on startup. My whole system has become unstable with The Finder, Safari and Firefox hanging randomly also. It's beginning to feel like Windows Vista.
I'd like to know is it running well for anybody?
I'm on a MacPro 2.66 quad with 10Gb Ram btw

If it was an install off a DVD, about the first thing I'd do is to do a software update to ensure it's all present and correct.

I've encountered various problems with it too. Looking at the Apple forums looks like plenty of other people are too.
Mine are mostly with iPhoto, which seems quite sluggish. Hopefully they will resolve it with an update soon.

I called Apple prior to install to see if reports were valid that it was having problems. Their reply none reported. I spent two days now and dumped a $100 program because they thought it might be the problem. Was told to reinstall Snow Leopard, still a problem. Iphoto freezes and is totally unusable. I have a date with the Apple guy in the morning again. I hope Apple realizes what a mess this update is, and comes up with a fix soon.

My problems haven't gone away and I'm now going to have to reinstall Snow Leopard too, just to get a working computer back again.
At the very least Apple should acknowledge the problems and say when they are going to release an update. If that were the case I might wait and not have to go to all the hassle of a reinstall and reconfiguration.

There shouldn't be any need to reinstall the whole system. You may have another problem. Verify the hard disk and repair permissions in Disk Utility, and check Activity Monitor for any rogue processes.

I did all that to no avail. I'm now running off a SuperDuper clone (Pre iLife 11) on an external eSata disc and it runs fine. The only conclusion I can come to is that iLife 11 f****d up my system, the grief started immediately after installing it.

Apple have been releasing some exceptionally buggy software recently eg Snow Leopard guest account "problem" etc.

There really is no excuse for these kind of bugs in what is basically a closed system. The fact that it cripples such a powerful computer is very worrying

I have iLife 08 on my Mac Mini and I find that the only useful program is iMovie

well myself having an interest in photography find iPhoto quite hand, and iMovie useless. horses for courses.

iPhoto & iMovie (love the new trailers feature) work ok for me. The only issue I have is iDVD which appears to be borked

My response as well! The RAM alone in that thing is worth a small fortune.

Nothing but problems. I am now with one of the Apple Senior Techs and we are at the stage of taking the computer in to Apple and erasing the hard drive and reinstalling. Oh me oh my what a fine mess I have here!!

I saw they released an update to iPhoto so I did a reinstall. I was thinking my system would run better anyway as this was full clean install of Snow Leopard and iLife 11 rather that upgrades.
However once I installed iLife 11 again I began to have some of the problems mentioned above. Not half as bad as before but there are still issues there - surprising on a clean install. When I moved to Mac (Tiger) I couldn't get over how it never ever crashed. Not true of Snow Leopard now :(
