hey was in M&S tis afternoon looking at suits and noticed they have a suit for €69 however they have 20% off at the moment.

It was a basic grey suit (€40 for jacket, €29 for trousers) but looks good especially for the price

Washable cotton IIRC, definitely not 100% poly anyway

True, but a suit, a good suit says lots about who you are. Makes you feel good and looks good. And it will last.

A good suit is one that fits. For €55 I wouldn't complain. Though I don't own, nor wear, suits, so I wouldn't get it anyway.

Wouldn't say no, if I did wear them though.

All I'm saying is that if you have to wear a suit (And thankfully I dont anymore, now I run my own Self-Help business WWW.YouAreTheBizNoReallyYouAreThatWillBe500EuroTaVeryMuch)
Is that its a better investment to buy a 200euro suit than a 50euro one, cos it will not only last longer, it will look better, fit better and yes the girls really do notice stuff like that ;)
Just look at the crap they sell in Pennys - does it actually fit after one wash?

Now, leave me and my self opinions alone - I've got to start writing Chapter 2 - How to Bull**** People into buying your crap

/sitting in €55 suit reading thread. It doubles as a nappy? Perfect!

    Ha €55 a bargain?

The last 4 suits I picked up were 2 x £27 in Asda and a 2 for 1 deal in The Outlet - £100. The latter 2 are better than one you'd pick up for 4 times the price.

    Bargain my hole.

this is similar to the Monster Cable debate....as if spending 4 times as much on one this gets you 4 times the difference. For me personally, I have a tough time getting suits to fit and to get ones that don't look like I borrowed them from my dad. I spent alot of time over in the states hoping to stack up on suits - but not one of them fitted the way it should. These were expensive suits - 500euro+ because I thought of it as an investment (I was just about to start a new job)

What I realised is, I found shops that sell suits that 'fit' me just the way I like. They are slim modern suits and I enjoy shopping there! So now, I can buy them online in work and they are guarnateed to fit. I go to Burton, TopMan and Zara. Everywhere else doesn't do a 36S.

I hate to think people still get suckered in by the old ' you get what you pay for '. Its complete Bull - do your research and find out your needs. Its that simple. If it works for you, then pay as liitle or as much for it.

You ordering these from the uk sites or buying from irish stores? Most suits i'd fit in twice, quite hard to find ones that fit.

    Thanks OP.
I think that if someone in here gets a suit to fit then this is value.
Not everyone has the cash to splash out on designer threads so this will doubtless "suit" some on here.
Don't be discouraged by the various spanners who don't really seem to have added to this thread. I'm in the "suits-are-for-weddings-and-funerals" brigade so I'm not out to make an impression when wearing one, so maybe I'm lacking a little perspective, but I also subscribe to the "don't-judge-a-book-by-its-cover" philosophy. That and the "stick-words-together-like-this" thing.

despite how the previous posts come across, the man makes fiar points here. a suit very obviously shows its value. do not spend less than 200, if you can of course.

'power item', who the **** are you, jack donaghy!

Seriously if anyone is sitting on the fence go in and have a look at it this evening as the 20% finished tonight however even at full price the suit is a bargain and looks a hell of better then most suit you will find sub €150

I own one of these cheap machine-washable M&S suits, and while you won't see Ryan Reynolds wearing one while he advertises some aftershave, they're absolutely fine for us mere mortals.

Interesting observation for people who think price always equals quality when it comes to suits

    http://www.englishcut.com/2005/01/27/if-you-cant-afford-bespoke/

"My first boss, Mike Wigglesworth of Redmayne once very kindly took me to visit a clothing factory to witness this mechanization. What sticks in my mind the most about that day, apart from the disconcerting efficiency of the machines, was the fact that designer-label brands were coming off the same production line as the “apparently” far less exclusive makes, such as Marks & Spencer [For the money, the British high street retailer, Marks & Spencer makes as good a suit as anyone. I rate them highly]."

As long as night follows day there will be People who value goods and services more simply because there is a higher number at the end of the Till receipt.

This is especially unfortunate in Ireland where to a massive extent value, design, quality, durability, product design etc. have will more often than not have absolutely no bearing on what Retailers charge for their merchandise.

    - What the Consumer can be duped into paying is the solitary consideration and key figure.
Aw fock - the TV is broken

    - It couldn't be, it cost me like €2,500 2 months ago?

Aw fock - Why didn't you say, I could have gotten you one for €3,500........
