Vengeant. I've always assumed it was an adjective meaning either looking for revenge, or having successfully gained revenge. I've just discovered that it's not in any of my dictionaries, and I can't seem to find it in any online ones either. Does it even exist?

I've never heard it anyway. It'd be more common to hear of someone seeking vengance.

What a great word, not sure about the a though, would it not be vengent? If its not a word it should be - 'he resumed his vengent efforts...' Vengant?

The Oxford English Dictionary lists "vengeant" as an obsolete word meaning "venging; executing vengeance." They give a quote from Richard Rolle, and thus date the word to c1340.

(Neither "vengent" nor "vengant" are listed.)

Thanks, that sounds right. For reference, I'm getting the word from a Magic: the Gathering card named "Ajani Vengeant." Ajani is a character whose brother was murdered, and this version of him represented him at the point of the storyline where he pursued and defeated the murderer.

:D Probably the first time I've ever been Rick Rolled and not regretted it.

I remember using this word (vengeant) in a text a while back and being surprised that Word's spell-checker flagged it. I think we should revive it.

Lol. I didn't do anything as reasonable as looking it up! The ent and ant were just notions. Its a word that is worth reviving!

I love it. It sounds much stronger than 'vengeful'. Yes, I definitely think we should revive it. I am going to add it to my vocabulary.

There are a lot of vengeant people out there! Grrrr...:D!!

    Thanks, Dunjohn.
