Hello everyone, does anybody know what equipment would be needed to have a rehearsal area for bands, and how much do you reckon the whole area would cost. Not looking for the most expensive equipment but just whatever you think would be sufficient. Also if a rehearsal facility was in place, what other things would you like to see in the building, e.g food, drinks, pool tables ect.

    hope somebody can help,
    thanks

First off, most rehearsal studios I've used have provided rudimentary equipment at best so most band members would just bring their own gear. The unfortunate truth is that people don't respect what isn't theirs so buying and then maintaining high-end equipment will no doubt prove to be very expensive. With that in mind then I would say pick up a few second-hand amps (2 x guitar, 1 x bass). Drummers could be required to bring cymbals/hihats/snare drum but the bass drum and toms could be provided, again get basic stuff. Maintenance is important though. Taping up a drum skin when it tears is not fixing the problem. The same with the amps, if they start to misbehave then people will start to treat them worse (hitting them to make them work like an old television).

As for how much "the whole area will cost" are you talking about the location, the equipment or both?

Other things I'd like to see in a rehearsal facility:
The biggest one is adequate parking. If I'm carrying a heavy amp I don't want to be carrying the amp a long distance. I also don't want to discover that I'm blocked in by five other cars that have arrived after me when my session is over.
If the rehearsal studio carried sundries like strings/plectrums/drumsticks they might sell well. I've never been caught without a spare string but I know other people aren't as prepared as me :).
