Ebay scammer

    hello.

I listed a psp go for sale on ebay for 200euro and 10euro p&p and it sold to a person living in Tipperary with an eastern European name.

I got payed and duly sent it off by registered post.

No long after sending it off I was contacted by payapl. They told me that the buyer claim he did not authorize this transaction and was claiming the money back through his credit card.

After a very long drawn out affair between paypal claims and bank issues. He won the case through the banks ruling and thus got his money back and has kept the psp

He is not responding through any emails. I have rang 11811 looking for **** in Tipperary. Unfortunatly there is no one called **** in Tipperary.

So I am wondering where do I stand. All I want is the psp back. I have lost over 200 euro and a psp. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

Was the Address you sent it to the Registered address for his Paypal account ?

If not then you will probably loose the case

If it was then I would take a drive down and check out the address to see what you are dealing with

You got scammed by someone using a hacked Paypal account, or a stolen credit card. Either way, the card owner is not the person that scammed you, which is why the money was taken back.

You'll never get the PSP or money back, it's gone.

Has there already been a case decision made? Or are the funds temporarily held (ie the case is still open)? You should see if you qualify for seller protection. You need proof of postage/delivery to the buyer's paypal account address.

Well then if you have the information i stated above (proof of delivery) I would contact paypal and appeal the case.

Since the case was won by the bank reversing the charge, it sounds very much like a case of a stolen credit card. The seller can do nothing in this case. Also, Paypal won't be able to reverse that charge back by the bank.

If you sent the item by registered post this means you have his address?
If so get the guards involved.

+1 Report the fraud to the Gardai. They wont be long tracking the fraudster down if you give them all the details that you have.

It normally doesn't work quite so smoothly. Any scammer worth their salt will be way ahead of you and the Gardai. Temporary address are used to order a lot of stuff in a short period, then they disappear. Since this particular incident has been going on for quite a while, it's fair to assume the scammer will no longer be there.

Contact the Gardai about it, and give them all the relevant details, but don't be expecting any kind of resolution.
