What are the little things that annoy you about the shows ye watch?

For me, some of them are shows that do "Previously on...". Just so annoying to see it, and it kinda spoils the episode, cos it usually gives clues to what's coming up, like X character hasn't been in a few episodes, we see him in the intro, i know that that character will be involved. I'd much prefer that i'd be surprised when he appears. I don't need every little detail reminded from previous episodes. It's gotten to the point where i either skip it, or just go lalalala during it.

Another one is episodes that start with a scene, then do "24 hours earlier". what's the point of that? we already know where it's heading at the start of the episode, and it becomes easily predictable a few minutes in, and the episode becomes pointless as the excitement is gone, and there's no climax to it

so boardsies, what are the little things ye hate about shows?

After each ad break (of which there are too many!) they do a recap of what happened before the break, and what's coming up

Also, when they explain the format of the program every single episode, "To Catch A Predator" springs to mind for this. Goes through the whole thing of hiring an undercover team to work for them, each camera and where it's placed etc etc.

Oh, and stupid breaks. Fringe is gone for 4 weeks, then will probably break for another few weeks after the new year.

Actors who use the same ticks and expressions way too much. Take Foreman in House or probably the most famous being Horatio from CSI.
Poor writing is my biggest hate. It doesn't matter how good the actor, they have to have something good to be working with. Even bad actors can pull off some feats when the role is set up well enough. Look at Ewen McGregor in Star Wars for a good actor working with crap.

    It's really not.

My main one is when there's a voice-over talking over the end credits telling you what's on next.

Another one is jerky camera movements that have crept into a lot of shows. It can be effective sometimes, but other times it's like the cameraman has had 8 cups of coffee.

Anything touched by Chuck Lorre (yes, including his seasons of Roseanne), or Joss Whedon (yes, including Buffy). Horrible, horrible writing.

When I hear all the fans gushing over their shows I seriously furrow my brow and ask "Are we watching the same shows?".

When you compare the comedy to the likes of Curb or the drama to the likes of Breaking Bad it seriously makes me wonder how these guys keep getting work. It's stuff one step above "The Bachelorette" imo.

    +1
That really annoys me too and even more so when they squash up the credits to make room for visuals of what's coming up next.

It's too much,'well that's the end of that let's get on to the next thing as soon a possible', whereas I like to dwell a little on what I've seen.

I'm one of those who stays 'til the bitter end in the cinema as well for the same reason! :p

I hate when they force a storyline for a character just to honour the actor's contract. You're following a nice, intriguing story arc and then there's an episode devoted entirely to some stupid character moaning about something pointless, and the character goes away for another month.

I also bemoan the lack of funny female characters on TV in general.

I think Glee was good, but I definitely think it's "jumped the shark" now.

Ah yes but what about Joss Whedon's seasons on Roseanne? You must have really hated Roseanne.

Don't mind the Chuck Lorre shows, mindless but watchable enough. I loved some of Buffy and less of Angel, but Firefly and Dollhouse didn't grab me at all. Both vastly over rated.
