    I know someone who wants to convert all of our home videos (which are on video tapes btw ).... onto a dvd. Does anyone know how you can do this? Without spending a fortune on equipment and gadgets...

    You can buy a DVD recorder and connect the VHS player to it. The DVD recorder should have an "AV In" SCART socket at that back. Connect the VHS player and DVD recorder with the SCART cable then play the Video and record on the DVD recorder.

    Or depending on your PC you might have various Video In connections. You could connect the VHS player to the Video In using the appropriate cables and convert that way too, a bit more complicated, but allows you create menus, edit the video etc.

    I bought a VHS and DVD recorder all in one unit in Maplins all you have to do is put in the tape and the disc press play and record to disc works great

    Galway -> Audio-Video Editing
    Someone in this forum may have the equipment and do it for you.

    Or you can do what Storm suggested and get the equipment yourself?
    Otherwise contact some local business to do it for you.
    For instance:
    www.video2dvdgalway.com
    www.keady.biz

    I think "Not funny, period" would be more apt.

    That will do thank you.
