1992 BMW 520

    Dear all,

I have a 1992 BMW 520, and have had to replace the thermostat 3 times recently, it kept cracking. Is this because the engine is overheating? I also had to replace the air flow metre during the summer. Prior to these issues, never really had any problems with the car, had brought it in from the UK in 2006, it had been lying idle for a couple of years, as I had a different car on the road.

Since replacing the thermostat this week, it also started jerking a bit when driving, and the rev counter is going up, although the engine revs aren't going up.

I really like the car only 100,000 miles on the clock, low for a 1992, I reckon if i can fix this issue, it could run for a couple more years.

    Any advice?
